Blot dry with a clean towel or paper towel and then allow it to air dry for 5-10 minutes. Wash and rinse your tattoo until it no longer feels slimy. Just like with a smaller tattoo, you’ll want to leave your bandage on for an hour or until you make it home and then wash it immediately with water (your tattoo will be sensitive, but try to use the hottest water you can stand to wash it with and then you can use cool water to rinse) and fragrance-free, antibacterial/antimicrobial soap (NO antiseptic products!). If you’ve embarked on a multi-sitting tattoo journey or have just added a larger-scale, single-sitting piece to your collection, congratulations! Caring for these pieces is not too different from smaller tattoos, but there are a few key things we ask you to do to ensure the best healing process and end result possible. Continue this until your tattoo is completely healed and use unscented lotion as needed when it feels dry. After the first four days, you can wash it three times a day and switch to an unscented lotion. Wash your tattoo this way no less than three but no more than five times per day for the first four days. Apply a VERY THIN layer of bacitracin, Aquaphor, or A&D ointment. Leave your bandage on for an hour or until you make it home and then wash it immediately with water (your tattoo will be sensitive, but try to use the hottest water you can stand to wash it with and then you can use cool water to rinse) and fragrance-free, antibacterial/antimicrobial soap (NO antiseptic products!).
